Tina Piarowski, BS

Tina graduated from Barrett the Honors College at Arizona State University in 2018 with a B.S. in Genetics, Cellular and Developmental Biology and minors in French and Global Health. During her time in Arizona, she worked for 2.5 years in Dr. Gillian Gile’s lab studying the evolution of protists within termite hindguts. She completed an honors thesis on the subject which she later published as her first, first-author paper. She moved to Colorado in 2019 to start her PhD in the Cell Biology, Stem Cells and Development program. She looks forward to utilizing the organoid model system to understand how certain cancer treatments impair patients’ sense of taste.
